This was an absolutely charming hotel with the most wonderful location. The staff was friendly and brought all our bags from the ferry to the room. The room itself was TINY - which I guess it’s a historical hotel but for the peak season pricing I was expecting a room we could walk around in. We had 3 people and 3 bags and it was a challenge. The wrap around porch is magnificent and sitting out there in the morning with your coffee or in the evening with your wine was just fantastic. The horses, the harbor, the people - we just sat out there for hours!

What a lovely place! We managed to get a room very last minute and we were lucky enough to get a gorgeous one with a harbor view. Very clean, very friendly front staff, handy bell counter the took great care of our luggage. We did not require a horse taxi, but people who did got front door service. Lots of room to park a bike, plus rentals on site if you need one. Staff got fire pits rolling at night, plus free coffee in the morning and ice water at night. In addition, location was perfect. It was just enough outside town to avoid big crowds, but not too far away that you can’t easily walk into town. Lovely chairs on the porch and the lawn in front to watch the boats and relax. Attached restaurant was good for dinner— I recommend reservations, unless you like to sit at the bar ( which we did, but the food and drink was wonderful ) We will be back!!

The Island house has a great location near, but not on, Main Street. Most things seemed walkable from here. The service by the front desk, wait staff and bell staff was very attentive. My problem with this hotel was with the rooms. We paid approximately $675 per night (with taxes all in but no food) for a room with two queen beds, summer weekend. The room had a view over the exhaust fans of the first floor restaurant. There was no closet and the sink was in the main room. The toilet and shower were in the separate bathroom, which had a variety of crooked, broken and repaired/mismatched tiles around the toilet. It was barely large enough to close the door in front of the toilet. I have been all over the world and most recently stayed in an upscale hotel in London this year during Easter week. It was not close to $675 per night. Someone needs to explain to me why this location in a remote part of Northern Michigan commands this price. Oh yes and there was no housekeeping unless you requested it by 10:00 am each day.

Stayed one night in room 100. A very lovely room on the corner of the hotel. Very bright and spacious. The hotel is very clean and classy. There is a restaurant the Grill 1852 which is very lovely. Wonderful service with very helpful staff, including Beth,Eddie and Antonio. I was there with my son William and my husband. We had a wonderful stay.

This is my first time staying at this hotel and I have had nothing but an amazing time here. I have been to mackinaw island more times than I can count and stayed at many different hotels, but this is my new go to place. The staff were absolutely wonderful and so kind. The food at the 1852 restaurant was amazing and the location of the hotel is wonderful. It’s a quiet hotel down the street from Main Street. I have seen this hotel so many times and always wanted to stay in it and now that I did, I am so glad I did.

The Island House Hotel was an amazing vacation spot! The lobby was beautiful and the room was extremely clean. The staff were very friendly. It was conveniently located close to the shops and had an absolutely breathtaking view of the harbor from the porch! My husband and I really enjoyed sitting on the rocking chairs and reading or eating breakfast while watching people bike and carriages walk through the roads. The island house exceeded all of our expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Great hotel located right off of Main Street. The porch was the most beautiful place to sit out and look at the water. The staff were all very friendly and they had coffee and fudge samples in the lobby throughout the day. The pool and hot tub looked nice but we were not back in time to use them. Overall a nice property with comfortable and clean rooms.

Great location and great views of the water and horses going by from the front porch of the hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Loved that our luggage was stored for us after check out so we could continue to explore the island. You can rent bikes out front of the hotel and their prices were a little cheaper than others. Lots of restaurants and shops are 4 minute walk from this hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
